It is something extraordinary in life, yet certainly true, that a pretty face, in the fair sex, will charm more than wit and good sense; but, on the other hand, the latter will charm, when the first is left, with only the reputation of being once thought beautiful. This young lady is a proof of the first part of my assertion: she is very pretty, very young, and very silly; yet her ignorance passes for real innocence, and her affectations for love, by which means she obtains a very genteel livelihood, from those of the male kind, who are as foolish as herself: she has brown hair, little in stature, and has languishing eyes, and undestands the power of friction with the best in christendom.
