1771 Edition
Miss O-r-n
Kings Bench
This Hibernian beauty had no small share of admirers, and supported the character of a first rate woman of pleasure; but, not confining her expences within the bounds of her income, she now does penance in the Kings-Bench. She is little, fair hair, good complexion, and is remarkable for having but very little down on the mountain of love.
Miss L-n
Lee Street, Red Lion Square
A very indifferent person, but agreeable in her temper, she is in keeping, and has been so some years, tho she will be doing a little at intervals, with a friend in private, she begins to grow in years, and said to have lost much of the true motion in love affairs, which she formerly possessd.
Mrs T-ms-n
Lisle Street, Leicester Fields
Had the ancient Statuarys and Painters when they pickd from the various beauties of the time to make a finishd Venus, had they seen this lady, they would certainly model'd her neck by this Ladies, which is remarkably delicate and fine, excellently proportion'd, and a skin like alabaster tincturd with blue veins, her hair is red, an aquilini nose, and grey eyes, she is rather short but extremely genteel and agreeable.
Miss T-nd-r
Meards Court, Dear Street
A very agreeable young lady, of a middling size, Fine black hair and eyes, This lady is not at present in keeping, but carries on business in a general way, that is with those who are generous and genteel, as she will appear of some consequence in the neighbourhood, and indeed she manages matters so well, that few of the inhabitants have any objection to her method of living, she is very loving, and infinite Satisfaction in the critical minute, as those declare, who have had the pleasure of her embraces.
Mrs C-l-rke
Mercers Street, Long Acre
This Lady is about Fifty-fix years of Age, and after a variety of employments, she thought proper to set up Tally-Woman, the first work'd at the Upholstry Business, next sold old Cloaths, and picks up a decent Livelihood, by helping young Gentlemen to nice tidbits, in the concupical way, she has dark hair, fine blue eyes, aquileni nose, and has very good Business in her way.
Mrs P-tt
Mortimer Street, Cavendish Square
This Lady to eke out a scanty pittance which nigardly fortune alloted to her share, she thinks it no harm to recruit her circumstances, by doing sacrafice as a Priestess at the altar of Venus, she is not over and above luxurous in her appetite, but contents herself at present with a single keeper, who is an eminent Sugar-baker, in Thames-Street, she is a pretty little Woman, fine light hair, fair complexion, blue eyes, and genteel in her behavior.
Miss Ann B-n
New Street, Covent Garden
This lady was once servant to a one eyd Bookseller, who formerly livd near St. Pauls, a person well known to the, trade, with him she livd in great intimacy, till an accident discover'd her incontinency with his man, it seems he had been on board a fire-ship as the Sailors term it, and communicated the flame to his fellow-servant, who did the same to his master, a quarrel ensued, and they parted, since which with a tolerable stock of personal charms; with the utmost depravity of mind, she carries ties on a pretty good trade for her self she is tall, florid complexion, languishing eyes, and of a very warm constitution.
Mrs H-ll
Newman Street, Oxford Street
This Lady is in extreme high life, and in deed her good sence and personable charmes, may plead in her favour, and to say she realy deserves it, she is a true votary of Venus, yet loves to approach the alter in due from, not like the generallity of the priestesses, who think nothing of decorum, she worships in silks and sattins, and tho' she is in keeping, thinks proper to have an Eqipage of her own, that the sneering world may not ask her who pays the driver, she has fine blue eyes, light hair and extremely agreable in her conversation.
Miss D-ug-s
Old Bailey
This lady is about two and twenty, and at the age of sixteen, was made a proselite to the worship of Venus; she is native of Yorkshire, and has at this time a friend who is her particular admirer, as she can draw whenever she pleases, yet, during his absence, for fear of forgetting the art and mystery of , she indulges a friend with her conversation merely by way of improvement; she is rather short, has good features, fine brown hair, and pretends to keep a secret like a Free-Mason.
Miss S-ngl-t-n
Oxford Road
This young lady is the daughter of a publican, she has been but a short time made a convert to the religion of love, and is now in keeping. She is pockmarked, and has but one eye, but, as lady Pentweazle says, that's a piercer. She is short, pretty faced, and a sweet tempered girl.
Miss Kitty W-ld-n
Park Street, Grosvenor Square
This robust beauty was sent for from Warwickshire, by an aunt who kept a little public house in the perlues of London; the young gentlemen who used the house in the summer season, soon made an impression on her tender heart; she left her kind aunt, and went with a gentleman whom she lived with till she was seised with the small pox; after her recovery he left her, but her face has received very little harm from this fatal disorder, and she now lives in the utmost splendor; she is pretty tall, good eyes, and is very agreeable in conversation.
Miss W-ts-n
Petty France, Westminster
This lady has not yet attained the age of sixteen, though she has been upon the town these two years; but notwithstanding her want of years, she is too old in vice and infamy, being a contrast to the lady before mentioned. She is extremely short, has red hair, and is exceedingly amourous; her lust is so strong, that she has more than once been caught in a room with three boys, much about her own age, at a time. During her short perigrinations, she has been three times taken home to her friends; but all the efforts they have made use of to retain her, has proved vain and uneffectual: for the soon found means to effect her escape, and instantly returns to infamy and ruin. Her friends, who are in pretty good circumstances, are, by the ways she takes, nearly brought themselves to the verge of the grave; but no tears, no intreaties, no remonstrances can bring her back to them and her duty. She revels in excess of pleasure and dissipation, and turns a deaf ear to all the advice of her parents and friends; nay, she rather seems to triumph in their unhappiness, and makes a mock at their calamaties.
Miss Jenny H-rt-ngt-n
Portman Square
This is the niece of a little brewer and publican, a little way out of town, and was sent for as an assistant to her aunt; but she soon got acquainted with the man who waited upon them on a Sunday, and learned the game of push-pin. The man died, and she soon after made an elopement with a young man, whom she now keeps, by selling her favours to others. She is of a middling stature, bluff faced, dead looking eyes, and rather clumsey.
Miss S-d
Putney
This lady is rather too corpulent, to be called delicate, her father is an eminent Farrier in the same place. He took every precaution in his power, but one, to endear her to virtue; he forgot example, This filled the unhappy girl's head with strange notions, and she fell a sacrifice to a beastly butcher: the wretch has abandoned her, and now she subsists thro the frailty of the abandoned youth of the parish. A jolly plump girl!
Mrs J-w-n
21 Rathbone Place
This Lady has been some years in the service of love, and all ways lived pretty high, for tho she was as true a votary as ever worshipd the cyprian deity, yet she held it as a maxim, that love and poverty were very disagreeable companions and therefore would never buffer passion to get the better of prudence, I wish heartily we could say the same of the ladies of pleasure in general, but alas thay are in general giddy with pleasure, and they have not the least Idea of the suture, their whole thoughts are so taken up with the present till time withers their beauty, and their former admirers forsake them, then all at once their folly appears and drives them almost mad, the cordial bottle mull bring relies, Intoxication ensues, and misery closes the Scene, such a fate as this, this Lady has happily anticipated by her conduct, she is a short person, pitted with the small pox, fine light brown hair, black eyes, very good teeth and is now in keeping by Mr. H.
Miss R-d
Round Court, Strand
It is really surprising that neither age nor ugliness can deter the female world from becoming votaries of the goddess Venus, and what is still more surprizing, is, that these ordinary priestesses should find their admirers among the male creation, yet it is certainly so, this lady, with all that is disagreeable, picks up a tolerable good livelihood; she is short, very crooked, black shock hair, and the exalations of a bog-house cannot equal her breath, you would be apt from her appearance to swear with Richard, that love forsook her in her mothers womb, yet she is a compound of lust, and her admirers declare she understands, the up-and down art of her posteriors, as well as any lady of profession.
Miss S-ot
Rupert Street
The Coniseurs in beauty may gaze on her with amazement, even the female world who criticise each other with so much acrimony, confess in spite of envy that the is the pride of the Sex, she has remarkable fine black eyes, light hair, fine teeth, and a most delicate skin, she had the great good fortune to captivate the heart of a gentleman, who is brother to a Baronet, who supports her in all the dignity a woman of her accomplishments and a consciousness of possessing them can wish for, and we hope her prudence will anticipate those evils which of ten attend the decay of Beauty, or the fickle disposition of a dignified Keeper.
Miss G-y
Russell Street, Covent Garden
This lady is a contrast to the other, in regard to charms, tho as true a worshipper of the Cyprian deity, she is modest in her behaviour, very young, but rather lusty, a fine face, middle stature, fine brown hair, and a most agreeable temper, yet she possesses the frailty of her sex, inconstancy for she lost, an excellent keeper, to feast her glutinous and cannibal like disposition, with the offal of a Butchers prentice. with whom she was caught in an action, that disgusted her paramour so much, that he turnd her off.
Mrs S-gg
Sherrard Street, Golden Square
This lady was formerly the wife of a strolling player; but has been deserted by him for some time; the distress he left her in, has obliged her to the necessity of seeing company. She is tall, well made, genteel shaped, and of a vivacious turn of mind, her hair of a light colour, and her eyes grey. She has many charms to recommend her, particularly a generous mind, and an open heart: for if you pay a visit to her at her lodgings, you are generally furnished with an elegant supper, and the price of her charms are seldom set at above one guinea for a night's lodging.
Miss Q-n
Shorts Gardens
This Lady has been but a short time converted, to be a worshipper of the goddess Venus, and at present is but a novice yet from the variety of the priests of Silenus, who are fond of instructing her, it is thought she will in a short time, be as great an ornament to the profession as ever took a wottle in hand, the is tall, well made, has fair hair, and fine black eyes.
Miss T-ny
Silver Street, Carnaby Market
This lady's name is not like her person, which is far from being tiny; she rather seems a decendant of Gog and Magog, by her gigantic statute; yet, by all account, she is not every way alike, the passage that leads to the store house of love, is rather small and extremely pretty and plump, easy of excess, fair hair'd, and lives very well.
Miss Re-ves
Spring Gardens
Those who are particularly fond of diminutive beauty, would certainly take great pleasure in this Ladys Company, she is short but well proportiond, pretty face, and very fine silky fair hair, black glossy eyes, and teeth like Ivory, these joind to no small share of wit and understanding render her extremely engaging, she is at present the particular favourite of a gentleman of fortune, with whom she is at present in keeping, as he supports her very genteel in every respect, we hope she will have prudence sufficient, not to endanger her own good fortune, by abusing her benefactors good nature and indulgence.
Miss Nancy B-rt-n
St James Square
This lady is kept by a grave citizen, whom she calls Muns; he visits her once or twice a week, and at her leisure hours, (as she hates to be idle) she indulges herself with several young fellows, who are generally pretty strong, to view her apartments, which if report speaks true, are finely decorated; she is very genteel, well educated, good eyes, fine hair, and an excellent wriggle.
Miss Lily W-r-ne
St Martins Lane
This lady is but new in the business, but promises fair, as she loves the sport, she is very young, a good face, black eyes, and black hair, was you to cut her into little stars, she would make the face of Heaven so fine, that all the world would be in love with night.
Miss J-n-s
Stanhope Street, Clare Market
This ladys sirname came by marriage, her husband was a pawn-brokers apprentice: no sooner was the ceremony over, but she declared he should never have the pleasure of performing the conjugal rites, and she has kept strict to her word, to the great discomposure of the young man, who was doatingly fond of her; she is now in keeping, has fine dark hair and eyes, and recommends in every respect an adapt in her business.
Miss And-rs-n
Swallow Street
The friends to the North may follace themselves with this bonny Scot, at a little expence, as she has something to support her well enough, and carries on business more for pleasure than profit. She is tall, has red hair, fair skin, and very genteel in her behaviour, but speaks very broad.
Miss S-t
Tavistock Court, Covent Garden
Nature never formed a more delicate little creature than this, but Venus took more care of her face and proportion, than Pallas did of her mind; when in her cups, she is vicious to the last degree, notwithstanding she is united by the best that visit the purleus of the Garden; she has fine eyes, black hair, and a delicate soft skin.
Miss W-ll-s
Kings Bench Walks
A good pretty fac'd girl, fine fair hair, large grey eyes, rather short, but yet genteel, she has had the good fortune to captivate the heart of a young gentleman in business, a Mercer, with whom shes now on a very respectable footing, notwithstanding she will give her company to a friend on particular conditions, that is, if she is well paid, for tho she is a true votary of Venus, yet vanity, the constant companion of the whole Sex, makes her fond of ev'ry new fashion, and of every diversion that the town affords, which is not a little expensive to support, which she thinks it no sin to make use of, she esteems as undoubtedly her own.
Miss P-ll-rd
Little Marlborough Street
It is something extraordinary in life, yet certainly true, that a pretty face, in the fair sex, will charm more than wit and good sense; but, on the other hand, the latter will charm, when the first is left, with only the reputation of being once thought beautiful. This young lady is a proof of the first part of my assertion: she is very pretty, very young, and very silly; yet her ignorance passes for real innocence, and her affectations for love, by which means she obtains a very genteel livelihood, from those of the male kind, who are as foolish as herself: she has brown hair, little in stature, and has languishing eyes, and undestands the power of friction with the best in christendom.
Miss Sh-ld-n
Lower Scotland Yard
This Lady is about twenty three years of age, and has been some time enlisted in the service of Love, with very great Success, who was her first seducer we cannot pretend to say, but imagine it was some person of quality, as she is very polite in her conversation and address, very pleasing in the happy hour, of tender daleance, along time she admitted the visits of a number of the first Rank, who paid her profusely for her favours, at last the happend on a visit in the country, along with some of her grand gallants, at a Noblemans Seat, she was accidentally beheld by L-rd E-te, who took a particular liking to her, and was determin'd to sollicit an interview with her, he accordingly did, by the help of an eminary, which he had often made use of on the like occasion, she agreed, and his Lordship met her at a Friend's house in Town, and overtures were made to her, which she did not think proper to reject. She is now in keeping by him in a very superb manner, she is tall and genteel, fine light hair, blue eyes, and has a very fine skin.
Miss W-lks
Mansfield Street, Goodmans Fields
This girl, though in the present situation of life may be deemed a bane to society; yet, on a second thought, I think her opposite a batchelor. I suppose myself introduced to a young blooming girl, a fair face, fine brown hair, an excellent set of teeth, and all the vivacity needful for a fair maid. This girl, though in her present unhappy situation, has still honesty, and is not common, She has been on the town about three years, yet greatly esteemed.
Miss Kitty Cr-ll-
Mercers Street, Long Acre
Very young, and is said to be the daughter of an eminent wine merchant, and was taught the art of love by a clerk of her father's, who having made rather free with cash that was not his own, he took French leave of his master, who turned his daughter out of doors. She is very pretty, and lives very well, is rather short, has black hair, fine eyes, and extremely fond of the sport.
Miss Polly R-b-rts-n
New Buildings, St Marylebone
The daughter of a pastry-cook at Paddington, who brought her up like a lady, without a penny to give her. Her pride made her seek after methods to support it, which she does, by prostitution, She is easy of access, short, fair face and hair, very good eyes, and is extremely loving.
Mrs Elizabeth H-w-s
New Street, Covent Garden
This is the wife of an honest carpenter, but neither his line, rule, or compass, could keep her honest; and they have, for above a twelve-month past, been separated, and carry on business without the assistance of each other; though the lady, it is thought, gets more money by shoveling and thrusting; than her former partner does by hammering and sawing, She is middle sized, good eyes, brown hair, and very entertaining.
Miss Sw-et
Newman Street, Oxford Street
This is a Chick of the right sort, hatchd by a true ginger hen, her eyes twinkle with the lambent lame of love, and her ruby lips like two Cherries joind, seem to say, come kiss me, her silver locks braided up, make a net to catch the hearts of all who behold her, she very early became a worshiper of the Cyprian Deity, and continues servent in her devotion to this moment, Almighty Love has seizd her every part, And reigns Sole monarch in her tender heart.
Miss P-n-y
Old Bond Street
If youth, wit, and beauty can entitle any female to the name of Belle, this lass may certainly claim it; she is profuse of her favours, yet not confined to one, and declares she never will; she is generally very coy, and loves to stroke it, as she terms it; middle size, fair hair, very entertaining, though rather silly.
Miss Sukey Bl-ss
Oxford Road
This lady was determined to follow the example of her sister, who lived very splendidly; tempted by the thoughts of having fine cloaths, and a natural tendancy to the sport, she was determined to have a tryal: she is superior in point of personal charms to her siter, has excellent fine hair, and fine black eyes, she was first broke in by a cabinet makers apprentice, by whom she had a child, which is since dead, and she is married to another, which she does not regard, has she has a great many very pretty customers.
Miss Grace N-rm-ngt-n
Oxford Street
This is a Yorkshire lass, and lived as house maid with Captain L-th, (now a General) by him the had a child, which he has sent into Yorkshire for education; and the mother might have gone with him, but she chose the town for her residence, and now lives in a very elegant manner. She is brown hair'd, which curls of itself like an Africans , good eyes but inoderate in her desires.
Miss Sophia J-k-
Park Street
This lady received a town education, and constantly makes use of the V and W, in a manner much an vogue among the Cockneys; she is at present in keeping, lives high, is very young, tall, but genteel, good eyes, brown hair, and very amorous, and her face most delightfully pleasing, so that we may say with the poet: If to her share some female errors fall, Look on her face, and youll forget them all.
Miss Cha-dler
Philpot Lane
This lady carries on a good trade among the young Citizens, she did formerly live at the West end of the town, but an affair with a married gentleman coming to light, she found the neighbourhood rather too hot for her residence; therefore took lodgings in the City, for the benefit of Merchants, clerks, &c. Shes tall, very genteel, rather lusty, good black hair and eyes.
Miss Patty W-lk-r
Piccadilly
This is a bundle of affectation, proud. and inconstant, has vanity enough to think herself superior in point of beauty, to the rest of the female world, though she has no great reason to think so; however, it must be allowed, she is very clever in action, she is middle siz'd, slender, pock mark'd, and has good hair and eyes.
Miss H-ll-d
Portugal Street
This lady is in keeping by a liquorish mouthed citizen, who fell a victim to her charms one night after the play, at a house where he went to refresh himself; she is of the middling size, with good brown hair, grey eyes, and might render herself agreeable, if she would not worship the God Bacchus so much, and leave off that intolerable habit of swearing she has got.
Miss S-th
Queen Ann Street, Cavendish Square
This Lady is in keeping by a Gentleman, who supports her in every extravagance of the polite world, yet she is to be bad upon conditions, but her price is above the common cut, as she will not put up with any thing but quality, she is but short, but by all report can manage a weapon as long as her self her hair is as black as a coal, her eyes piercing, her conversation agreeable, Love is her study, and Ovid her chief guide, and according to his advice, she would untile the house rather than not enjoy the object of his desires.
Miss F-rm-r
22 Rathbone Place
Those who are fond of vocal harmony may please themselves with this lady, her voice is delightful, and her person far from being displeasing. she is rather little, but very neat and genteel, her complexion swarthy, but agreeable, has fine dark hair, very good face, and is said to be very active in her business and gives great pleasure by her extatic motion in the critical minute, when the soft sport is over, you may listen to the melody of her voice until tird, nature again revives, which she will endeavour, by all the art she is mistress of shall not be long first.
Miss H-le
Rupert Street
A very fine tall woman, about twenty years of age, fine complexion, black eyes, and dark brown hair, we are not well enough acquainted with this Ladys History, to tell the Reader of what Country shes of, or at what time she first set out in the forbidden path of Pleasure, yet so delightful has been her perigrination through them, that she is as fond of going the Journey oer again, as at her first setting out, and she is well enabled to pursue her Inclinations, by the bounty of L-w G. who is her particular admirer, and she is at present in keeping with him.
Miss Wells
Rupert Street
Here's a tid bit for Luxury in Love, Cupid has struck in the spring tide of life, she is now not above fifteen, with all the vivisity which generally attends such juvenile ladies, she nimost [almost] dies in the performance of the pleasing mystery the hallowd rites of Venus, oh ! what rapture it is to have so delicate a morsel in our arms, her eyes languishing, her lips quivering. and her whole frame agitated by an extacy of pleasure, is not the very thoughts of this sufficient to warm the cold blood of an anchorite, she has fine large full eyes and dark hair.
Miss Julie B-d
Sea Coal Lane, Ludgate Hill
It is really painful to follow this unfortunate girl to her present place of residence, born with every accomplishment to make a figure in the first circle of pleasure. You may daily meet with her on Ludgate Hill: her little cabbin is in Sea Coal Lane, there she entertains her culls with that figure she might have made in high life had she but acted with prudence; thus she entertains her lovers daily with great success, and spends the benefits at night upon her favourite man a bailifs follower.
Miss C-l-
Silver Street, Carnaby Market
This lady has been so good a friend to the good old cause, that the number of travellers, who have gone the path to her fountain of love, have trodden all the grass away, this makes a number of votaries on that account, whole curiosity leads them, to examine those curious parts; the is red hair'd, and very vicious.
Miss Spr-ggs
Spring Gardens
This young lady was the daughter of a mealman, at Huntingdon, born with every accomplishment to make her admired. Her father died while she was very young. A noted lord, in the neighbourhood, made himself her mother's patron, and now enjoys the benefit of his designs, She has black hair, good eyes, and kisses well.
Miss B-ks
St Dunstans Court, Fleet Street
Some gentlemen who are coniseurs in, the art of love, declare this lady is possess'd of a new method of worship, and, that she has made many concerts to her doctrine, the principles of which are not well enough known to the author, to give them to the reader at present, but she must certainly be honourd, for any illustrations on the system of love, That is free from, heresy, in that exellent Institution, she is but short, but has a fine skin, good eyes, and black hair.
Miss T-d
St Johns Court, St Martins Le Grand
This young lady has great personal merit, though but a middle size beauty, she was bred a milener, and apprenticed to a presbyterian; they took great pains to bring her up in the fear of the Lord, yet she never forgets their lessons. You must not attempt to approach her without the preface of a prayer.
Miss C-rt-y
St Marylebone
We may with safety say that this lady is one of the most pleasing, as well as the most active in her profession, not that the will give her company to every one, for she takes the utmost pains imaginable, to improve her acquaintance with the best, by going every day in her carriage to almost all the toy shops of eminence in town, where she generaly makes an acquaintance with some young fool of quality or other, who support her in her extravagance to the utmost pitch of vanity. She is young, well made, brown hair, good eyes, and every way agreeable.
Miss Br-n
Stepney
This lass, though not to rank among the beauties for face, yet for other natural parts, none can exceed; she is fair hair'd, pock mark'd, but a most delicate skin; this and her good behaviour, has engaged her several friends, with their contributions. She lives genteelly, and notwithstanding her course of life, is respected by all the inhabitants.
Miss W-ll-ghb-
Stone Court, Blackfriars
This lady is of a different disposition to the other, her person is very agreeable, but her temper is very different from being so; besides she is too fond of drinking cordials, which deprives her of her senses, and renders her, too often, incapable of enjoyment, as her lovers have frequently experienced. She is of a middling size, has black hair, and very handsome eyes.
Miss Catley
Suffolk Street, Charing Cross
She is the daughter of a Hackney Coachman, near Tower-Hill, and her Education, (if it may be calld Education,) the lowest of her acquaintance was with the most vulgar, and her conversation the same: Nature however was very kind to her, she possesses a very elegant person, fine features, good hair and eyes, and a voice the most delightful ever heard, she was a mere tomboy among her playmates, and would play at Taw, Spin a Top, or jump over a post with any one, she was one day sitting in a Public-House and amusing some of her acquaintance with a Song, when a gentleman passing by, was so struck with the rude melody of such an untutor'd genius, that he could not resist his Inclination of endeavouring to get acquainted with her, this was no difficult Task, as she was very free of her Company, in a short time the was ingagd to an Eminent Master in the Musical Way, (Mr. B-tes,) and soon after was brought to the Orchestre, at Mary-Le-Bone-Gardens, where her amazing powers and excertion soon distinguishd her as a first rate Singer, she had not been long there before a celebrated Knight, well knewn in the World of Gallantry, made some overtures to her, which she did not think proper to decline, and directly she step'd into her Chariot, as the Favourite Sultano of Sir F. B. D. L. with him she liv'd for some time in the highest Degree of Luxury and Folly at Marylebone, she would attend with pleasure to the most lewd Conversation, which was sure to be introduc'd every night, by that Arch Priest of Salinus T. L--e. she had now an offer of advantage, and suitable to her wild rambling disposition, of going to Ireland, where she soon grew emminent on the Dublin Theatre, every day the improv'd and surprisd the audience, with fresh proofs of her abilities, after a few years she thought proper to return to England and is now on the Covent-Garden Theatre, giving fresh Specimens of her extraordinary Talents, she is said to be now in keeping by a Gentleman of rank and Fortune, by whom the has two Children.
Miss Ch-lo-te
Knightsbridge
Among the different distinguished Counties in England, Kent is not the least in the Catalogue, having been in the Saxon Heptarchy, the principal Kingdom: this Lady's Education has been very genteel, and a natural turn for reading has made her acquainted with her own County's History, and she values herself not a little on being a Kentish girl, it is something very extraordinary in life, that beauty should be its own betrayer, and the qualifications we most admire we should be most fond of destroying, virtue in the female world is the greatest gem in human nature, This L. H. S. was well convinc'd of, and therefore that he might not deviate from his rank, he very early seduced this lady, whose name she thinks proper to carry with her to this day, she afterwards Iivd with an Hibernian Gambler, whose name was Mahone, since his time she has traded promisicuously, and gets a very genteel livelyhood. She has fine black eyes and hair, good complexion, and seldom fails of giving Satisfaction to her votaries, she is about twenty-three years of age, and now in keeping by Captain W.
Miss T-h
Little Pulteney Street
All who have attended the rites of the goddess Venus, must have observed a great deal of difference in the performance of the mystic ceremony by the priestesses, some ruth to it with all the Enthusiastic fury of the Delphic virgins, others tho equally fond of the service, approach with such reverential awe, that you would think them statues till the moment of action, when you immediately perceive they are possessd with the true spirit of devotion, their breasts heave, their eyes roll, and all the whole frame is in agitation, this lady is one of that sort, she approaches the altar of love with the utmost sanctity, but her manners is so pleasing, that she generally makes Proselytes of all who are acquainted with her, her size is rather small, fair haird, but. extremely genteel.
Miss J-nes
Mayfair
How unaccountable are the devices of the toylet, to dress up the complexions of the fair Sex, see but a fine lady in a morning dress, before she is prepard for shining in company, they are so unlike what they appear afterwards, that you could not possibly know them again, this lady is a proof of my operation, for was you to see her of an evening, you would swear she had fine dark hair, but alas ! tis an artificial colour, its own genuine one being red, she is very tall, has good teeth, black eyes, and formerly livd as Cook to Mr. Rupels at the golden Cat. facing exeter-exchange in the Strand, she is rather a masculine Lady, and awkard, and has made herself famous, for sueing a gentleman for a Bond.
Miss Y-rk
Mercer Street, Long Acre
This is a lady of high degree, if you will believe her own account of her pedigree; she claims no less than consanguinity with the great chancellor Hardwick; alas! that such great blood should run foul; but so it is, that the most noble flesh is frail, as is plainly proved by this lady, who is so incontinent; yet at the same time so constant, contradictory as it is in terms, yet it is true, for she has a fresh lover every night in the week, to whom she is strictly true. She is short, brown hair, fine eyes, and kisses excellently well.
Miss C-x
Mortimer Street, Cavendish Square
This Lady is not a little fond of Politics, and not long ago, for the sake of better information of national affairs, she made acquaintance with a Member of the lower House, by whose name she now goes, she is extremely genteel, very entertaining in her Conversation, well made, has fine dark glossy hair and eyes, plump as a partridge, and not a little fond of her profession.
Miss Polly F-ther-n
New Street, Blackfriars
This lady lives extremely genteel, and is in great repute among the citizens of London; she confessed she had no objection to appear in this list, but begged to have very little said on her; she is well made, black hair, fine eye, and a round fresh-coloured face.
Miss A-ms
Newman Street, Oxford Street
This Lady is rather diminutive in size, but not in perfections, love and its pastime, early took possession of her heart, to which she still continues a true friend, she has how ever prudance enough to take care of the main chance and has fortune at her will, she is at present in keeping, and satisfies her particular friend, notwithstanding her receiving Company at leasure hours. She has fine dark hair, black eyes, and is very genteel and entertaining.
Miss Elizabeth P-ck
Orange Court, Great Wild Street
This is a black beauty; and was sometime waiting maid to a lady of quality, near White Hall, where the favourite footman got the better of her virtue, and in a short time she brought him forth a son an heir; but, alas! he left her to take care of it herself; she put the child to nurse, and went into business to maintain it. She is very genteel, has good eyes, and sings very pretty; she has many admirers, but is very delicate in her choice of them.
Mrs D-s-n
Oxford Road
Mrs D-s-n is perhaps one of the finest women of the age, in every respect, her person is majestically graceful, her face is compos'd of the utmost regularity of features, with a skin like the finest marble, tintur'd with the colour of the rose, and marbled with blue veins, her eyes which are black are speaking trumpets to the God of Love, inviting him to her arms to bask in the sunshine of her beauty, she was some years kept by that celebrated Sportsman, Captain Shastoe, at Lesson Green, near Paddington. She is tall and genteel, full of vivisity, and very high in her price.
Miss Clara H-yw-od

This Lady from a common girl of the Town, has rais'd herself to a very genteel life, by her theatrical abilities, she first made her appearance at Mr. Foote's house in the Haymarket, in the Character of Calista, in the Fair Penitent, and was very well received by the Town, and is now engaged at the Theatre-Royal in Drury-Lane, at present, in keeping with Captain Crew, she is little, very genteel, swarthy Complexion, dark hair and very good eyes, is very chatty and entertaining.
Miss J-ne
Phoenix Alley
We cannot well ascertain the place of this ladys nativity, but it is generally imagind by her strong manner of pronouncing the letter R. She is an Hibernian, be this as it may, she was certainly first drawn from the Temple of Diana, to be a worshiper of the Cyprian Deity, by a native of that Island, who soon after lest her to pursue her own inclinations, which she has done for some time: She is pretty tall and plump, fine black hair and eyes, and by all accounts, a very earnest worshipper of the Deity she now follows.
Miss Sally W-mell
Princes Street, Leicester Fields
This is the daughter of a gardener near Paddington, who set off rather low at first; but beauty and good humour has advanced her to very genteel apartments and connection, which she has prudence enough to preserve, by always being at home when her lovers think proper to call; she is short, good eyes, brown hair, and a lisp in her speech not at all disagreeable.
Miss S-h
Round Court, St Martins Le Grand
This young girl is the daughter of a reputable Quaker in the city, tall and very genteel, black eyes, and with a leg would move an anchorite; she renounced her religion for a liberty of conscience: she has, however, two particular qualities in her nature not very pleasing to her lovers; she always cries preceding the sin, and is too liable to conceive.
Miss La-ur-ce
Rupert Street
This Lady is a Native of Boston, in New England, and no less than the Daughter of a Governor of that place: Time, place, or Country cannot resist Almighty Love, she is not above eighteen years of age, very genteel, has fair hair, charming blue eyes, and her skin is as soft as down, yet tho she has thought proper to throw aside her virtue, she has been very happy in her connections, and is now in keeping with a Gentleman of no less fortune than Ten Thousand Pounds a year, how many Ladies are there, who are Advocates for Honour, who would not become Prostitutes, for the like advantage.
Mrs T-yl-r
Russell Street, Bloomsbury
Mrs, T-yl-r is a Lady about twenty four years of age, and became a prostylite to the Sport of Venus about eighteen, we cannot satisfy the reader whether she is a married woman or no, or whether her husband be dead, as we suppose she has had one, by her taking the appellation of Mrs. but she continues a firm votary to the wanton Goddess, and does not despise the God Bacchus, to whose rosy smiling cheeks, she will often toss off a sparkling bumper, at present she's in keeping by Captain B. who is very fond of her, she is but little, but extremely pretty and delicate, and is reported to be very clever in the performance of the act of frution, which renders her the more agreeable to all who have the honour of her embraces, but we are inform'd that she always makes a particular point of being faithful to her keepers, during their temporary residence with her aqualifications, we wish every one in the same way, would consider to act the same. She has fine dark hair and eyes, and good teeth.
Miss Gw-ll-m
Shepherd Street, Oxford Road
This is a first rate, and by some said to be privately married to an East India captain, be that as it may, she is determined not to catch cold in his absence for want of use; she lives very elegant, and only sees the best company; she is of a good height, fine complexion, easy in manners, and is irrisistable altogether.
Miss Goldock
Shorts Gardens
From the colour of this ladys hair, which is nearest that of a carrot some imagine she is a northern beauty, and a descendant of the ancient Picts, by the shortness of her person, the broadness of her bottom, the length of her arms, and the warmth of her constitution, is not unlike the colour of her hair, rather fiery, which is the reason she has more chance customers than others, as those who have the least delicacy do not chuse to approach her.
Miss Ford
St Anns, Soho
Love and folly are the most predominatest of all other foibles in human nature, this lady is the most sentimental whore that ever existed ; she will chaunt forth the glories of at the same time she is paying a plentiful tribute to the devil. She is tall, genteel, well made, fair hair'd good eyes, and will oblige any of her acquaintance.
Miss Nancy N-g-nt
St Martins Lane
If wantonness and folly can recommend a person not disagreeable, this lady has a sufficient claim. She is forever studying some whim or other, practices more ways in the game of Venus than any lady in town, she laughs moderately well, stands upon her head, or any other thing that is ridiculous, by which means she entertains a great number of lovers, who support her very well. She is thin, has good eyes, and good hair.
Miss H-d-n
Stanhope Street, Clare Market
This lady is very young, and pretty great care was taken of her education by her prudant mamma, under whose wing the was immediately brought up; the grave matron lived genteel, having a house well furnished with good lodgers, but not a penny to give her daughter, therefore took an opportunity of introducing her to the acquaintance of a young gentleman in the city, who soon made a proselite of the tender virgin he has been faithful hitherto, and is still very frequent in his visits she is little has fair hair, good eyes, and sings very prettyly.
Miss Y-rk

This lady has had a great deal of economy, and saved up a pretty round sum sufficient to maintain herself very genteel, but being still fond of the sport, continues to receive company, of which she has no small share, and of the best; she is tall, very light hair, and is very chatty and agreeable.
Miss K-y

This lady is sister to the celebrated murderers of that name, at this time in the Kings Bench Prison, she is of a midling stature, excellent fine hair and eyes, good teeth, and a sweetness of disposition, that commands the greatest respect, she is said at present to be in keeping with a person, who had influence enough to procure a pardon for her Brothers, pity but they had been of as mild a temper as her self.
